Public Policy Positions of VtPHA
Health Access
Womens Reproductive Health..
The Vermont Public Health Association believes that all women should have access to a system of reproductive health services that is accessible, affordable, comprehensive and of high quality. Full access to these services should not be jeopardized by the public political, moral, and religious-based debates on the availability and affordability of quality reproductive health services for women.
VtPHA supports initiatives that promote the following:
- All women have access to this high quality system, regardless of ability to pay
- A comprehensive system of health insurance which assures access to the full spectrum of women’s reproductive services
- Statewide clinical services system (public and private) that offers comprehensive reproductive health services
- A statewide system of educational services that provide women and their partners/families with information about their rights and available services
- Policies and services that strengthen the social and medical health systems designed to support adolescents and reduce adolescent pregnancy and STI rates
