Violence Prevention..

The Vermont Public Health Association recognizes that violence prevention is a complex public health issue that can only be addressed by a multidisciplinary approach. Violence has a profound effect on the physical and emotional health of individuals, families, and communities. The VtPHA supports:

Reduced access to weapons and lethal substances
Improved access to mental health treatment for all age groups
Education and support services for new families and families at risk
Prevention programs that reduce the incidence of violence within schools and community
Media literacy education
Policies that minimize children’s exposure to violent images
