Violence Prevention..

The Vermont Public Health Association recognizes that violence prevention is a complex public health issue that can only be addressed by a multidisciplinary approach. Violence has a profound effect on the physical and emotional health of individuals, families, and communities. The VtPHA supports:

  • Reduced access to weapons and lethal substances
  • Improved access to mental health treatment for all age groups
  • Education and support services for new families and families at risk
  • Prevention programs that reduce the incidence of violence within schools and community
  • Media literacy education
  • Policies that minimize children’s exposure to violent images
